With National Trust walks right on your doorstep, Shank Wood Log Cabin is a fantastic place from which to explore the beautiful wildlife that surrounds you. Stroll among the trees, venture into every nook and cranny of the wood or stop by the river and cast your rod for some peaceful fishing. The beautiful rustic cabin, which is near the market town of Longtown just north of Carlisle, offers up a true respite from the hum drum of daily life. With only two electrical sockets, powered by solar panels, your stay won’t be interrupted by the TV or internet. Lounge in the comfortable living space with a book by the log fire, or sit out on the deck and watch the sun set behind the trees leaving you with a clear starry sky overhead. The nearest phone signal is a ten minute walk away, meaning Shank Wood Log Cabin really is a truly secluded retreat. Cook up some lovely locally sourced food on the outdoor BBQ with side hob and dine either outside or in. The breathtaking Lake District National Park is a 50 minute drive away and has plenty of hiking, cycling and horse riding opportunities. Carlisle, Brampton and Longtown are nearby for those of you who want to go for a stroll around some shops before getting a pint and a glass of wine.
