Tucked away down a private lane, hidden by trees and sitting on the lakeside, Far Boathouse is an idyllic hideaway perfect for a romantic couple who love the water. Unlike many boathouses this one has the luxury of being on the larger side and is rather luxurious. Dispense with your coats in the hallway and make your way in to the cosy open plan living area. The first thing that will strike you is the view. A large, plump comfy sofa and armchair sit facing bi-folding glass doors providing an uninterrupted view of the beautiful lake with the Cumbrian hills framing it in the distance. You might want to just crack open a bottle, turn on the pretty electric fire and settle in to watch the sky change over the water. The interior has been thoughtfully decorated to provide a cosy nook with everything you could need to burrow in and leave the world behind. The kitchen is fully equipped for the creation of wonderful feasts and the hosts have kindly provided a wine cooler to keep things extra civilised. Enjoy a long, lazy supper at the unique marble dining table which seats four. Afterwards you can snuggle up and watch a movie, perhaps crack open the monopoly, chess or dominoes, or maybe just get back to that view. You'll sleep deeply and peacefully in the comfortable king size bed with luxurious Egyptian cotton bedding and in the morning you can watch the news from the comfort of your duvet on the Sony TV. The bathroom has a unique driftwood style and a double sized shower with plenty of hot water where you can make use of all the complimentary toiletries before wrapping yourself up in a big fluffy bathrobe and heading into the kitchen for coffee. Open the balcony door and step out on to the fabulous decked balcony, settle at the table and enjoy your breakfast as the sail boats glide by. The boathouse comes with private mooring so you can hire a kayak, canoe or boat from a nearby supplier and they will deliver and collect it for you. What a wonderful way to start the day, gliding along on the water with a flask of coffee and your camera to hand. Situated just three miles from Pooley Bridge where you'll find three very welcoming pubs and the fabulous Chestnut House which has a “gin wall’ of over 400 different gins, as well as lots of other spirits, liqueurs, beers and local produce.
