Finglen Shepherds Hut

0

£165.00 up to £275.00 per night

Set in nine acres of wild meadows and pretty woodland, on the banks of the Finglen Burn, this remote and idyllic escape would be ideal for a romantic couple or those needing a place to recharge. It's hard to believe that Finglen is only 10 miles from Glasgow, tucked away as it is, in the heart of nature with nothing but the sound of the stream and the stars above to keep you company.

The Hut has been finished to a high standard with a walk-in shower, composting toilet and outside covered verandah. The owners have managed to create something fabulous that is both rustic, wild and low-key luxurious for their guests. The space has been cleverly used and feels cosy and welcoming, and, with the addition of the covered verandah, there is a lot more spacious than you'd expect.

A huge, comfy king size bed is tucked into the nook at one end with a luxurious mattress and fine bedding where you can burrow in and enjoy a deep restorative night's sleep or tuck up with a book.

A kitchen and dining area with a cute table and bench seating rest in the middle with a wood burner to keep your toes toasty on chilly nights, whilst you enjoy a dram and play endless games of cards. The kitchen area is fully equipped for the cooking of feasts which you can enjoy inside or carry out to the verandah with a bottle of chilled wine and some candles for a delightfully romantic supper. The hut also boasts a separate shower room at the far end where you can blast away the night's sleep and dry yourself on a hot fluffy towel fresh off the radiator.

Take your first coffee on the covered verandah whatever the weather with Indian rugs, soft seating and a chimnea to keep you warm whilst you listen to the Finglen Burn trickle by. As beautiful, if not more so, when the rain is falling and you can sit outside snug and warm with a glass of wine and nowhere to be. You'll feel a million miles away from busy modern life.

A wonderful addition to the verandah is the brilliant double-ended bath tub with hot running water and bubbles. Is there a more perfect way to end the day than being nose deep in an outdoor bubble bath with a glass of chilled champagne clasped in your hand and nothing but a host of wild flowers and the sky for company?

There are plenty of pubs and places to eat in Campsie Glen and the hosts are a fount of knowledge and happy to advise on any outings. You'll only be 10 miles from Glasgow so you can head over for a big night out or fill the boot with fine foods and never leave your little idyll in the woods.
