£324.50 up to £415 per night

Set high on a hillside just 10 miles from Glasgow and a 20 minute drive from Loch Lomond National Park, surrounded by silver birches and with spectacular views, the Craigmaddie Muir Roundhouse is a secluded escape for two. Sit out late into the evening in the hot tub or curl up on the sofa in front of the wood burning stove as the stars start to appear. The Roundhouse has floor to ceiling windows through which you can enjoy the stunning scenery as you escape the hustle and bustle. The Roundhouse is a small but striking building that beautifully complements its surroundings. The exterior walls are clad in Scots Larch and it has a living sedum roof which changes with the seasons. The front of the building overlooks the landscape below and features huge windows, offering180 degree views. Step inside and you’ll find a contemporary, light-filled interior with an open-plan design. Your eye is immediately drawn to the big windows and the spectacular views. There is a woodburning stove and a sofa set just in front of the central window so you can sit back and enjoy the scenery in complete comfort. The well-equipped bespoke kitchenette is located to the right of this, positioned so you can continue to enjoy the view while brewing a warming cup of tea or cooking dinner. The luxurious king size bed is located to the rear of the Roundhouse with crisp, fresh bed linen. The secluded location and the comfortable bespoke bed set you up for a great night’s sleep. There is a separate bathroom with a powerful rainwater shower and even this room enjoys a spectacular view. Outside, the deck can be reached directly from the living space, allowing easy access to the hot tub. This is perfect for a relaxing soak after long walks in the surrounding countryside. There’s also some outdoor furniture and a gas barbecue at your disposal. The Roundhouse is set on a private farming estate so you can be sure of plenty of privacy and lots of countryside to explore. It’s a wonderful destination for keen walkers and there are lots of routes which you can follow right from your front door. Just behind the Roundhouse, there’s 250 acres of moorland which is home to a thriving population of wildlife, from kestrels and sparrowhawks hunting above you to ducks swimming gracefully on the surface of the water. Any whisky lovers might want to take a trip to Glengoyne Distillery which is only five miles away and offers tours and tastings all year round. Also nearby, you’ll find even more walking opportunities in the Loch Lomond National Park or head to Glasgow for a change of pace.
