Jackdaw Cottage is set in a quiet spot on Westley Farm, surrounded by rolling meadows and an ancient woodland. Found at the end of a winding farm track, with no road and no neighbours, the secluded property is a world away from the hustle and bustle of urban life – offering the opportunity to relax and unwind in total privacy. The cottage is available to rent all year round, perfect for tranquil summer staycations, cosy winter retreats and everything in between. Beautifully converted from an old farm building and ringed by a traditional Cotswold stone wall, the home oozes rustic charm, but has all the modern comforts you could wish for. Inside is warm and welcoming, characterised by sheepskin rugs, wall hangings and throws inspired by North African and Native American weavings and crafts. It’s also full of antique furniture, bespoke artwork and a range of trinkets and curiosities carefully curated by the hosts. At the heart of the home is the living area, kept warm and cosy by a woodburning stove. A lovely spot to relax and watch TV, read a good book or play one of the board games provided. This gloriously decadent country retreat is full to the brim with beautiful designer features and décor, lots of luxury amenities and stunning original artwork. It's also very warm and welcoming with the feel of a particularly lavish boutique hotel and would be perfect for a large family holiday, a retreat with colleagues or a group of friends seeking a countryside getaway in elegant surroundings. Upon arrival you'll be greeted by a jaw dropping Bruce Munro-designed chandelier with 300 individual clear teardrops which will give you a taste of what's to come. Every room, surface and corner has been thoughtfully and artfully decorated or designed to make Elkstones as memorable as possible. The Loxleys oak kitchen is certainly the heart of the house with beams and limestone flooring, granite worktops, a seven-ring gas range with griddle, two large ovens - one for pizza or bread baking, and a large solid-timber table that seats up to10. It's the place to gather for lazy breakfasts, long lunches and casual bites in spacious but cosy surroundings. And when it's time to dress up and enjoy a more formal evening there's a very elegant dining room with an oval table where you can while away the evening drinking fine wines by candlelight. Despite its luxuriousness the living room is probably the most casual and relaxed of all the rooms with a large wood burning stove, flagstone flooring, thick rugs and two sumptuous leather sofas where you can nestle in and watch a movie or demand someone plays the baby grand that's languishing in the corner. When it's time to rest you'll have the choice of five individually designed rooms, four of which are ensuite and all of which boast Hypnos beds. The main room has a four poster super-king bed and a freestanding mineral-cast bath set on a raised platform with magnificent country views. Another ensuite has a double Drench shower and the family bathroom and ensuites are all a mixture of black marble, stone and mosaic tiling and classy fittings from Grohe and Duravit. Once you've woken up feeling restored, you might like to enjoy a morning coffee before doing some lengths in the heated pool and spending some time in the sauna. Or perhaps you'd like to explore the grounds? There are three terraces to choose from and a large landscaped garden opening onto a rolling meadow. There’s also a ha-ha in the lower garden and the terrace next to the kitchen is perfect for alfresco dining, with built-in seating, a table for 10 and a BBQ. You'll be just a short walk from the picture-perfect town of Chipping Campden where you'll find lots of independent shops, cafe's and bars to enjoy. Pamper yourself with a spa day at the Cotswold House Hotel and Spa a short 10-minute walk away. If you feel like eating out, the very cosy Eight Bells is lovely. Lady Bamford’s The Wild Rabbit at Daylesford does a brilliant Sunday lunch in a very stylish setting. And the hosts also recommend booking a table at The Wheatsheaf in Northleach, one of the best pubs for food in the Cotswolds. And once you're sated head back to your fabulous holiday home and settle into the cinema room for a movie night with popcorn!
