Fox Cottage

£1,075.00 up to £1,415.00 per week
This delightful little thatched cottage is set on a working farm in Devon surrounded by cider orchards and rare-breed sheep, goats and cattle. You’ll be able to enjoy the farm’s produce during your stay and explore most of its 63 acres of gardens, woodlands, re-wilded marshlands and even a beach on the Teign estuary. Inside the cottage, you’ll find a cosy hideaway, perfect for couples with many of the building’s 18th century features preserved in a recent refurbishment. Snuggle up next to the beautiful old fireplace with exposed beams overhead or enjoy the view from the charming bedroom with its sloping ceilings upstairs. This is the perfect spot to escape the hustle and bustle and enjoy some stunning natural surroundings. The Grade II* listed building was built as the original farmhouse and you’ll find plenty of history in and around the house. There’s an even older thatched cider press and barrel store close by and cider is still made on the farm with apples from the heritage orchard, though now using more modern techniques. Inside the cottage, you’ll find a well-equipped kitchen with a small Aga stove, all the cooking equipment you could need and Richard Bramble pottery. Complimentary freshly laid eggs are available and you can purchase more of the farm’s produce during your stay. Move through to the living room and you’ll find a dining area and a comfy sofa set in from of an open fire. Logs, matches and firelighters are provided, so you’ll be toasty whatever the weather and there’s a selection of books as well as a TV for cosy evenings in. The bedroom features a lovely wooden floor, exposed beams and a comfy double bed complete with an electric blanket. You’ll find robes and slippers waiting for you along with Cowshed toiletries in the shower room. There are some more facilities for washing and drying clothes in the adjacent stable building. Outside, you’ll find your own private seating area with a gas BBQ so you can cook outdoors on sunny days surrounded by the sights and sounds of the farm. Tucketts is a regenerative farm without the use of chemicals or fertiliser which means that you’ll be surrounded by plenty of wildlife. If you’re lucky you might spot cirl buntings hopping in and out of the hedgerows, long-eared owls in the woodland or herons and cormorants down by the estuary. There’s plenty to do in the area beyond exploring the farm. Head down to the pretty village of Shaldon just a few miles away for a day at the seaside. The village of Combeinteignhead is within walking distance and home to a historic church and several friendly pubs. For some watersports head across the estuary to Bishopsteignton or the wild landscapes of Dartmoor are just a 30 minute drive away.
