Great Burrows Stable
£135.00 per night
While the cabin has all the modern flourishes – fridge, TV, wifi – owners Mary and Justin, who left London in search of a different way of life, have created a space perfect for unhooking from the modern world and truly relaxing. You can hike straight from the door on woodland trails, hit the coast in half an hour, nip over to Dartmoor, or stroll through the woods to the local pub for dinner. If you prefer to cook, then pick up ingredients from Okehampton’s organic grocer, to add to the local milk and the eggs from the hens you’ll see wandering past the cabin. You’ll possibly spot Theo, a neighbour’s horse who lives in the field next door, while all around you the health of lightly tended land means deer, rabbits, owls and woodpeckers are all common sights. All you have to do is decide if you’ll be spotting from the deck recliner, the lounge chairs, the swing or the bath.

The Bull Inn
- 0
- 1 night
£135.00 up to £175.00 per night
The Bull Inn in is an organic, ingredient-led pub, that offers guests a wonderfully comfy stay in the Devon countryside. This Devonshire gem is fully committed to keeping its environmental footprint to a minimum - which fits perfectly into the alternative and bohemian approach the market town is known for. There are eight rooms at the inn. This includes two king size rooms and six super-king rooms, each with an en-suite. Four of the super-king rooms can alternatively be made up as twins to ensure more versatility. Two of these have en-suite bathrooms with a tub, and the other two have en-suite shower rooms. These slightly larger rooms also have enough space for a cot if you're travelling with a baby. Each room is truly unique and is completed with an array of furniture from antique fairs and flea markets. There are also bespoke touches, such as the bedside lamps carved from Dartmoor wood, while original features such as open fireplaces and high ceilings have been preserved where possible. The building itself has undergone a huge refit and refurbishment, but most of the original fittings and furnishings have been reclaimed or upcycled to give a quirky feel. While the old has been preserved as much as it can be, this is mixed with modern living - such as solar panels on the roof, a heat recovery system throughout, as well as stylish bathrooms and plush carpets underfoot. The bar is full of fabulous organic wine as well as organic draught beers from Stroud Organic Brewery and spirits. There is a relaxed and informal feel with an open kitchen and a mixture of locals and those staying mingling together in what has been lovingly described as a “decent boozer”. The historic town of Totnes where The Bull Inn is situated is now synonymous with eco-living and a different way of life. The high street is home to a wide range of independent and unique shops selling an array of ethical products, wholefoods, and fair trade goods. It is also full of natural beauty, located as it is on the banks of the River Dart and close to Dartmoor National Park and South Devon’s beautiful sandy beaches.

£3,295.00 up to £7,420.00 per week
Tucked away in a secluded valley close to the spectacular North Devon Heritage coast, Old Barn is a beautifully converted farm building that now offers plenty of comfort and charm for groups of friends and family looking to escape to the countryside. It's set on a 17-acre private estate with lots of exploring to do along grassy trails, country lanes and pretty streams. Enjoy relaxing days at the nearby beaches or stride off along the South West Coast Path for breathtaking views before a dip in your private hot tub or the estate's heated indoor swimming pool. Old Barn was once Coulscott Farm's main barn and has been thoughtfully converted to provide contemporary holiday accommodation while retaining its original rustic charm. Step inside and you'll find yourselves in an impressive living area with vaulted wood ceilings that reach right to the top of the barn's three levels. Staircases and galleries lead up to the bedrooms on the floors above while comfy sofas invite you to relax and unwind in front of the log-burning fire. Move through to the fully-equipped kitchen, complete with an Aga, coffee machine and large dining table where you can enjoy delicious meals together. After dinner, get a board game going in front of the fire or head up to the cosy snug to select a book from the shelves and curl up on the sofa. You'll find five bedrooms across the barn's three levels, providing plenty of space and flexibility for groups. Next to a sunroom on the ground floor, is a bedroom with a super-king size bed and ensuite bathroom, perfect for those who prefer not to navigate a flight of stairs. Head up to the first floor and you'll find a king size room with a balcony overlooking the valley. There's also a twin room and a family bathroom, a great set-up for families with children. The main bedroom is also on this floor with an ensuite and doors that open onto the deck, perfect for enjoying a morning coffee with views of the surrounding countryside. Head up to the top floor where there's a twin room that makes a great hideaway for the kids. When the sun is shining, make the most of the outdoors and enjoy lazy afternoons out on the deck. Rustle up some lunch on the BBQ, go for a dip in the hot tub or just lie back and relax on one of the sun loungers, all while enjoying the stunning views of the estate's valley. In the summer months, you'll be able to stay out late into the evening, watching the sunset and perhaps doing a bit of stargazing from the comfort of the hot tub. During your stay you will be nestled in a secluded valley, surrounded by 17 acres of picturesque grounds with lots of great things to see and do. Kids will love the indoor games room that features table football and table tennis, and the specialised soft play area caters to children under five, providing a secure and enjoyable space. Kids will also love the large wooden pirate ship featuring decks, the two-storey Wendy House and the wooden tractor with a slide. There’s also a five-acre dog-walking field, and nature lovers will delight in meeting Coulscott's diverse resident animals, numbering over 50 and still growing. These include free-range chickens, charming call ducks, runner ducks, alpacas, pygmy goats, hand-reared sheep, Kune Kune piglets, guinea pigs, mini lop rabbits and orphan lambs during the spring. And finally, within the expansive grounds you also have a five-a-side football pitch, full-size badminton and tennis courts and various games such as croquet, boules and cricket. There’s also the newly added pitch and putt golf course! Old Barn has the rugged landscapes of Exmoor and the stunning beaches of North Devon right on its doorstep, so you'll be spoilt for choice when it comes to finding things to see and do. Start off by exploring the estate, with pretty trails to follow, play areas to entertain the kids and a heated indoor pool for a refreshing way to start the day. Venture out towards the coast and you'll find Combe Martin beach just a mile away, offering a sheltered stretch of water for kayaking and paddleboarding with the opportunity to spot dolphins and seals. The secret cove of Wild Pear is just a little further along the coast or there's Broadsands Beach with its turquoise waters and mysterious caves. The famous beaches of Woolacombe, Croyde and Saunton Sands are just a little further along the coast, offering world-class surfing spots and miles of golden sand to enjoy. To see a bit more of the coast and learn a bit more about the local marine life, head out on a sea safari from Ilfracombe. You might prefer to explore inland with horse riding, hiking or mountain biking in Exmoor National Park, a trip to the beautiful Arlington Court or a family day out at Combe Martin Wildlife and Dinosaur Park.
