Sitting within its own extensive grounds, in the heart of Dartmoor National Park, this beautiful Georgian country house certainly has the wow factor. Comfortably sleeping up to 18, Prince Hall has plenty of extras to keep guests of all ages entertained. If you’re looking for a tranquil country escape with friends or family, this show stopper of a property has it all. The large, elegant family lounge has huge windows which flood the space with natural light and make the most of the fabulous garden views. There’s plenty of comfortable seating and you’ll also find a TV and a selection of games. The spacious kitchen has been recently refurbished in a welcoming, farmhouse style. With a huge gas range stove and big American fridge/freezer, it’s been perfectly designed to cater for a large group. You’ll find everything you need to prepare and enjoy a leisurely breakfast, light lunch or fancy dinner, including an air-fryer, microwave, toaster, crockery and glassware. Then all you have to do is decide where to eat your feast – at the informal kitchen table, in the large dining room or outside in the picturesque garden. One of the pleasant surprises in this fantastic property is the well-equipped games room. Here you can challenge your guests to a game of table football, enjoy a pool tournament or brush up on your table tennis skills. Adults and children alike will be drawn to this fun-filled space. Another hidden gem is the infrared sauna, located on the first floor, which is available for your own private use during your stay. The room also has a walk-in shower to refresh you after your relaxing sauna session. The nine spacious bedrooms with super king-size beds (seven of which can be twin beds if needed) are all ensuite so there won’t be any queues for the bathroom in the morning. One boasts a decadent four-poster and another offers a delightful sleigh bed. Each room is super-comfy and guarantees guests a fab night's sleep. Stepping outside to the huge, private gardens you’re in for a treat. As well as spectacular views across the moorland, you’ll find a large BBQ area with outdoor seating, a hot tub, a fire pit and even a woodland meditation circle. With a national park on your doorstep, there are plenty of opportunities to explore your breath taking surroundings on foot. And if you fancy a pub lunch or tea and cakes, the nearest village, Princetown, is three miles away. Here you’ll also find a brewery and Dartmoor Prison Museum.

    The steps up to Treetops Treehouse lift you clear into the canopy and you’re suddenly alone with the peaceful breeze through the leaves, the occasional skittering squirrel and only the good kind of twitter. The temptation is to fire up the wood-burner, settle on the sofa and crack into the local welcome cider, but the rest of the treehouse is worth exploring. Upstairs you’ll find the king-size bed and in another room downstairs the huge copper bath, where you can lie back and soak up the quiet as the stress just drains away. The kitchen has everything you need to cook and there’s a barbecue outside on the deck, but if you fancy a treat then book in at the superb restaurant of The Fox & Hounds and head across the grounds for dinner. When you come back, sink into the bean bags in the secret cubby hole on the deck and watch the sun set on the fishing lake and the trees of Heywood Forest as the local train chugs past beneath you. Treetops Treehouse is set in the North Devon Biosphere Reserve, with the River Taw just below. If you want to leave the car behind, Eggesford train station is just a 5 minute walk away, and the Tarka Line runs to Barnstaple in one direction and Exeter in the other. As well as fishing on the lake and river, there’s the Tarka Trail that’ll take you on foot or by bike through charming villages and beautiful countryside via the odd homely pub. You can hit the coast for surfing, coasteering and a dip in the sea, or just spend the whole time lounging in the treehouse, sipping champagne and looking out over the pond.

    The terms "boathouse conversion" and "industrial design" may not seem like the best coupling upon first listen, but both concepts have been seamlessly married in The Old Devon Boathouse. The interior is stylish and contemporary, while the setting is quaint and maritime. Sitting right on the River Exe in the town of Topsham, you will be ideally situated to explore the region, and the county's capital Exeter is just a short drive away. Sleeping up to three guests, The Boathouse is a wonderful retreat for couples or small families with an appreciation for modern décor and charming vistas. Exposed white brick walls, luxury modern furnishings, and top-quality basalt floor tiles run through the property, lending it an industrial, yet sleek, air. Upon entering, you will be greeted by the open planned living area (and a classic Porsche in the adjoined garage). The sitting room contains a comfy couch, flat screen TV, and a cosy wood burning stove. An ultra-contemporary kitchen sits adjacent and comes well equipped. The master bedroom boasts a comfortable double bed and a beautiful ensuite. The bathroom houses a standalone bath and has black 3D Bisazza tiles on one side, with exposed white brick on the other. Step outside The Boathouse and you will be greeted by the site of the passing boats on the River Exe. The East Devon AONB is also nearby, containing over 100 square miles of protected countryside. The nearby coastal towns of Sidmouth and Exmouth are directly to the south and east respectfully. Topsham itself sits within the district of Exeter, with the city being a short 15-minute drive away. The county town of Devon, Exeter is famous for its cathedral and is a tourist hotspot with lots to see and do.

    The Bull Inn in is an organic, ingredient-led pub, that offers guests a wonderfully comfy stay in the Devon countryside. This Devonshire gem is fully committed to keeping its environmental footprint to a minimum - which fits perfectly into the alternative and bohemian approach the market town is known for. There are eight rooms at the inn. This includes two king size rooms and six super-king rooms, each with an en-suite. Four of the super-king rooms can alternatively be made up as twins to ensure more versatility. Two of these have en-suite bathrooms with a tub, and the other two have en-suite shower rooms. These slightly larger rooms also have enough space for a cot if you're travelling with a baby. Each room is truly unique and is completed with an array of furniture from antique fairs and flea markets. There are also bespoke touches, such as the bedside lamps carved from Dartmoor wood, while original features such as open fireplaces and high ceilings have been preserved where possible. The building itself has undergone a huge refit and refurbishment, but most of the original fittings and furnishings have been reclaimed or upcycled to give a quirky feel. While the old has been preserved as much as it can be, this is mixed with modern living - such as solar panels on the roof, a heat recovery system throughout, as well as stylish bathrooms and plush carpets underfoot. The bar is full of fabulous organic wine as well as organic draught beers from Stroud Organic Brewery and spirits. There is a relaxed and informal feel with an open kitchen and a mixture of locals and those staying mingling together in what has been lovingly described as a “decent boozer”. The historic town of Totnes where The Bull Inn is situated is now synonymous with eco-living and a different way of life.
