Kempt Tower

0

£745.00 up to £2,750.00

Built in the 1830s on the West coast of Jersey as a defensive measure during a war with France, Kempt Tower enjoyed a renovation in 2015 and is now undergoing a second life as a characterful, self-catering holiday property. A unique accommodation experience for friends, families and other groups, Kempt Tower represents the opportunity to stay right in the Jersey National Park, within an architecturally unique piece of local history. Inside, the property is arranged on an open-plan basis, with two distinct storeys. On the ground floor you’ll find a comprehensive modern kitchen, with all of the facilities you’ll need to cook up a feast for a hungry group, fresh in from a day of water sports. On the same floor, there’s a beautiful dining area and several small bathrooms. Upstairs, the entire extraordinary space has been converted into an open plan sleeping chamber, made up of four double beds, each with a single bed as a bunk above them. In total, twelve guests can be accommodated. In the same space, a living room type area has been created, set up with comfortable modern furniture and a television. It shares the same swirling exposed brick walls and hardwood floor, lending the entire space a distinctive industrial bunker-style aesthetic. This is a property which really has to be seen in order to be fully appreciated; circular walls and chic urban design make this a living experience unlike anything you’ve ever known. The roof terrace is yet another treat, with its substantial views of the sea and national park. Whatever the season, Kempt Tower is a brilliant destination, whether you spend your time surfing, hiking, or simply grilling on the roof terrace, taking in the 360 degree views. In a typical day, rise early and take a dawn plunge in the glittering Jersey sea, enjoy a cup of coffee on the roof terrace and take a lengthy walk through the marshes of the National Park, before ending with a pint of local ale, and walking the short distance home for a delicious fish barbecue on the roof terrace, followed by a lengthy chat around the wood-burning stove. Jersey is an outdoors paradise, popular with swimmers, sailors, windsurfers and mountain bike enthusiasts. Kempt Tower is in a designated National Park, so you can look forward to clear starry skies, extraordinary birdwatching and safe landscapes for children and animals. That said, you’re right on the beach, and also only a short distance away from the quaint pubs, independent shops and excellent local restaurants for which Jersey is famed.
