£220.00 per night
Llys Alaw is an Edwardian house in the charming village of Capel Bangor in the heart of Mid Wales’ Cambrian Mountains. Recently renovated inside and out, it is now a stylish holiday home for up to eight guests. With contemporary interiors designed to help you feel relaxed the moment you step in through the front door and a beautifully designed garden, perfect for entertaining, this is an excellent choice for big families or groups of friends. It even has its own gin bar where you can help yourself to complimentary cocktails on arrival. Step inside and you’ll find the living spaces on the ground floor. The spacious kitchen is well equipped with everything from a Rangemaster oven to a wine fridge. This leads through to the light and airy dining area, perfectly positioned in front of large bi-fold doors out into the garden. There’s a second dining table outdoors so you can make the most of the fresh air on warmer days. In the evenings or on chillier days, retreat into the cosy sitting room, with sofas and an armchair gathered around a log burner and a wall-mounted wide screen TV. Upstairs, you’ll find the four bedrooms, each with its own colour scheme and decorated with local artwork. There are three double rooms and a twin, all prepared in Egyptian cotton sheets, soft throws and luxury bedding. In the ensuites and in the family bathrooms, fluffy bath towels will be waiting for you on heated rails. Head outside through the impressive bi-fold doors in the dining area and you’ll find a beautifully designed outdoor entertaining space. The large patio leads down to an outdoor kitchen and dining area with a barbecue, Belfast sink and Welsh slate work surfaces. When you’ve finished dinner, head over to the stylish firepit, surrounded by seating and enclosed by box hedging. Alternatively, try a cocktail at the gin bar or relax in the eight-seater hot tub as you watch the sun go down. Llys Alaw is located in the Cambrian mountains but just a few miles from the seaside town of Aberystwyth, so there’s something for everyone. Tackle some of the Ceredigion Coastal Path and be rewarded with some spectacular views, or head out on a dolphin-spotting boat trip. Hike to the famous Devil’s Bridge Falls or enjoy the landscape in a more leisurely fashion with a ride on one of The Vale of Rheidol Railway’s restored steam trains. Then it’s back to the house for a barbecue and a soak in the hot tub.
