When it’s time to hideaway from the rest of the world and spend time with the one you love, the luxury Blue Reef Cottages are your Hebridean snug. Peering out from beneath their turf roofs and huddled into the hillside, they’re expertly designed to blend in with their rural landscapes. Explore the wild Machair and its untouched plains, stopping off for a secret picnic on the deserted, golden sands. Wonderfully remote and with idyllic, unspoilt scenes, it is a spellbinding tapestry of your wildest hobbit dreams.
The two award-winning cottages are set on the tranquil Isle of Harris and are just a ten minute stroll from the small village of Scarista. With the wilderness of the Machair laid out at as their kingdom, they fuse their stunning natural opulence with both heritage and indulgence. Sip champagne in the Jacuzzi, or unwind in the sauna, before curling up by the crackling fire with your own Harris Tweed furniture. Locally-sourced materials let the beauty of the outdoors shine in, while electricity is provided by your own private wind turbine.
Each of the eco-friendly, stone cottages has been finished with an exquisite attention to detail and boasts an open-plan living area with a fully-equipped kitchen. Gnarled wood pillars frame their comfy sitting areas which feature massive curved windows for spying the spectacular country vistas. Underfloor heating even makes them cosy and warm, along with the traditional peat stoves which add a romantic ambience. Read a book beside the fire, or cook a candlelit meal for two, dining at the country table or out on the secluded, sea-view terrace.
When your eyelids start drop and your beloved bedtime is calling, you can put on your fluffy bathrobe and seek out the sumptuous double bedroom. Furnished with a deluxe, king-size bed and crisp, designer bedding, it’s the perfect retreat after a day of adventure.
The beautiful Isle of Harris is in the remote Outer Hebrides and has a majestic natural outlook across land, sea and mountains. Discover its heather-clad hillsides or its wildflower crofts that hide rugged, windswept dunes and rocky outcrops. Pristine beaches are caressed by crystal-clear waters, while rare fauna and flora make it an extra special backdrop. Look out for the playful seals sunbathing on the rocks or for the basking sharks or local dolphins. You can take a boat trip around the islands or head out for a game of golf, before staying up at night to glimpse the incredible Northern Lights.
