Well, we can assure you that whichever one you chose, you will not be disappointed. The Sound of Harris holiday homes can be found in a remote location in the west corner of the delightful Outer Hebrides. As home to some of the most spectacular beaches in Britain with large open areas,rugged mountains and a haunting stillness across the island, total relaxation is guaranteed. This chic self catering accommodation comprises of two separate but adjoined units. Each has their own private access, so rest assured that you won't be disturbed by other visitors. Both guest units have been carefully and painstakingly designed to offer first class accommodation, that oozes sophistication and mid century style on the Isles!. The Sound of Harris features classical pieces from British brands and designers, and of course features nuances from the famous Harris Tweed throughout, including a bespoke Tweed woven by Donald John MacKay of Luskentyre. Scottish through and through, The Sound of Harris is all about the chic, hip and comfortable accommodation it offers for two. Each property is built around a light, airy and open plan living area, with fully glazed windows allowing for uninterrupted views of the beautiful coastal location. For your convenience, both properties have satellite TV, a hi-fi with a CD player/mp3 dock as well as a DVD player. There is Wi-fi at each property to keep you connected to the outside world should you wish to be. Or just leave devices alone and enjoy the extensive and diverse libraries of books and films available in both. The Big House offers an 120 m2 loft style space, the like of which is not to be found anywhere else on the island. The house features a well appointed kitchen with a separate dining space, all sitting quietly under an imposing vaulted ceiling. The architectural features are beautifully juxtaposed with the comfortable and cosy reading snug, warmed by a traditional fuel stove. The comfortable double bedroom, with beautiful Danish style furniture, is the perfect place to rest your head in peace. At the end of the day relax and unwind in the en-suite bathroom offering a Japanese style soaking tub - big enough for two! With views across the Sound towards Ensay, Killegray and Pabbay, The Big House is a truly sublime space. The Other House (as it is affectionately known) continues the open air feel with southerly views across the islets of GIlsay, Lingay and Groay. With a large bay window, you need never miss a single view. The kitchen offers a breakfast bar area for eating, and leads round into the beautiful sitting area where you can see straight out across the Sound. To the north side of the property, the bedroom provides a contrasting calm and cozy feel. Ensuite facilties feature a combined Japanese tub and rain shower. Stunning, superbly well appointed and with comfortable for two, The Other House is equally as desirable as The Big House. The island hamlet of Borrisdale offers an ideal location to explore south Harris and further afield. Take in the numerous coves and cliffs and the views over Skye as you explore Renesh Point, St Clements Church or the intriguing underground shelters of the WWII installation on the island. If you are lucky enough to visit in September, you can join in with the annual Mountain Festival with guided walks and lectures, along with the famous 5 Peaks Challenge. Fishing is also a popular pass time in Harris, with the waters surround the island well stocked with pollock and mackerel, and there are plenty of sea and game fishing (trout, sea trout, salmon) trips that can be arranged locally. However you chose to spend your time on the Islands, the all round design and location of the Sound of Harris speaks volumes to visitors every time.

The open-plan kitchen has been thoughtfully kitted out with everything you need to make you feel at home, from the beautiful, coastal-themed Denby crockery to the professional Rangemaster stove. There’s even a bread maker so you can enjoy a freshly baked loaf with your morning coffee. For anyone needing an office, the study provides the ideal workspace, with USB adaptors, a printer and a window desk overlooking the sea. This cosy spot also boasts a Smart TV, surround sound system and a comfy sofa, so it doubles up as a relaxing snug. The three welcoming bedrooms each have a different theme meaning you’ll be spoilt for choice. Whether you choose the Shoreline Room, inspired by the exquisite seascapes seen through the window, the Machair room, which celebrates the grasslands and flowers that surround the house, or the Chaipaval Room, with colours that echo the pink and purple heather that decorates the island, all the beds boast premium mattresses with quality linen to help aid a restful sleep. Shoreline and Chaipaval both have ensuites with rain showers and Machair is across the hallway from a beautifully designed bathroom with a bespoke, boat-shaped bath. When you want to make the most of the fresh sea air, head outside to the benched seating area to soak up your surroundings, or fire up the BBQ for a flame-grilled feast. Outdoors you’ll also find a shed with a sink, perfect for washing off sand, drying wetsuits or storing surfboards.
