Suffolk: a place to unwind. Situated in the east of England, Suffolk is a county filled with natural beauty, bordered by 50 miles of glorious coastline and topped with breathtaking skies. Its charming villages and medieval towns draw in artists and writers, while its bounty of great produce and restaurants make it a special spot for foodies. In Suffolk you can visit the Home of Horseracing, explore Constable Country, immerse yourself in history in Bury St Edmunds, or simply spend long, lazy days by the sea. You can do as much as you want, or as little. Sometimes, in a place this rich and beautiful, just being is pleasure enough. And where better than to “just be†than a lovely country cottage?Your own place for a week or two, where you can shut your door on the world after a rewarding day exploring and enjoying the best that Suffolk has to offer; or just savour for its own sake. Letting the world carry on without you, just for a while.A growing selection of Suffolk CottagesSuffolk Hideaways are pleased and proud to offer a fantastic and ever-growing selection of cottages throughout this glorious county – from little places, perfect for a romantic weekend for two, to larger properties, perfect for family holidays. The cottages – and locations – vary; but what they all offer is a warm welcome, and a chance to let your hair down and relax, in total comfort.Dog friendly cottages in SuffolkMany of our Suffolk cottages are dog-friendly, suitable for young children, or perfectly located for a range of activities such as sailing, birdwatching, cycling or walking. We also offer many short-stay opportunities: sometimes a weekend break, somewhere beautiful, is all it takes to recharge those batteries.

Where did it all start? In 2003, my best mate Ravi and I spent a week at a crumbling chateau in the Dordogne with a group of our closest friends. It was one of those holidays you never forget. The chateau was stunning, the wine was flowing and the weather was pretty much perfect. Best of all, we had the whole place to ourselves. As it turns out, that holiday was the start of something pretty special. Before we’d even got back to England, Ravi and I had come up with the basic idea for our first business, Simply Chateau: a website where people could find and book exclusive, luxury chateaux without having to shell out a fortune.Where are we today? We’ve grown a bit since then. We’ve now got a team of people who love travelling just as much as we do. Between us, we’ve hand-picked every one of the properties you’ll find on the site. Our emphasis is still on quirky, lavish, one-of-a-kind places to stay, but we now offer villas, castles, stately homes, beach huts and cottages, as well as chateaux – not just in France, but all over the world. You may have noticed we’ve changed our name too. Ravi took a bit of persuading, but in the end we agreed on Oliver’s Travels! Why do ordinary? So whether you want to treat the family, get together with friends or spend a romantic weekend somewhere special, why do ordinary... when you can have exceptional? If you are looking for a bit of inspiration, why not take a look at our latest recommendations, where you’ll find a list of our own favourite places to stay? The Inspiration page is also a good place to start your search. And if you still haven't even decided on where to go, head to Oliver's Journal - our pretty awesome blog!

An eco-friendly architect-designed pod, rich in comfort and secluded in West Sussex woodland for an out-of-this-world escape.AirShip 1 is a creatively-designed, contemporary pod for up to three guests. Secluded in magical West Sussex woodland, it's the perfect excuse to grab two of your best friends (or just your loved one, if you prefer) and make your escape from hectic daily life. You'll begin by driving away from the main roads, and into the rural paradise of The Haven, Billingshurst. Your AirShip will be ready and waiting to welcome you there, gleaming amongst the wildlife-steeped woodland. One end of the AirShip overlooks a glistening dew pond, and the other a soothing meadow. That means beautiful views are guaranteed, whether you're enjoying the sun from the decking, or watching the rain from huge windows.(You never know who else you might catch sight of, too - such as the resident deer and dragonflies, birds of prey, or even the occasional woodpecker).Friendly manager Luu will be on hand to answer any questions, and her beloved dogs and cat may also be around for you to make firm friends with! However, if you'd prefer complete privacy during your stay, this will be respected. You'll certainly feel as though you've been transported miles from anywhere, though you won't be roughing it' in the woodland. Quite the opposite, in fact! Filled with welcoming home comforts, there's a gorgeous wood-burning stove to warm your evenings, plenty of cosy seating, and a galley kitchen with everything you need to whip up sunset suppers. When it's time to turn in, discover a large, downy double bed and a comfy sofa bed, all ready and waiting to help you drift off under the stars. What to do with your days? You could start by exploring the woodland, filled with enchanting hidden spots that feel like undiscovered secrets. Why not grab a good book and a blanket, and see where the mood takes you?If you've brought your bike along, you could while away some time whizzing along the Downs Link, while those who have found a new passion for the Great Outdoors could learn a brand new skill: bushcraft. Choose between an on-site taster session or a full day of activity, guided by the site's resident instructor.Though of course, you've always got the option to wander along to the friendly local pub, The Blue Ship, and chat the day away over a welcome round of drinks instead!Return to your AirShip just as the sun is starting to set, gathering around the firepit to catch up on life as you toast marshmallows. In fact, why not open a bottle of bubbles, too? You've earned this escape, and now it's time to enjoy it.
