Nestled on the banks of a private lake in peaceful woodland, you’ll find three beautifully crafted shepherd’s huts, each with its own theme. They are located within the grounds of an old hunting lodge on the outskirts of the city of York. The shepherd’s huts are adults-only, perfect for couples looking for a quiet, romantic escape, and each has its own hot tub and a gorgeous view over the lake. Choose between ‘The Nest’, ‘The Roost’, 'The Warren', 'The Den' or ‘The Hollow’, each having its own personality but all equipped to the same high standard. You’ll be greeted with a basket of locally-sourced and homemade treats to help you settle in after your journey. Enjoy a cup of tea in the outdoor seating area, complete with cushions, blankets and views of the lake, or get that wood-fired hot tub going straight away. You’ll be cosy inside the hut, whatever the weather outside, thanks to a wood burner with a full supply of logs. The bathroom has a shower and a heated towel rail where you can warm up your robes and fluffy towels. You’ll also find luxury toiletries from Neals Yard in the bathroom. There’s a well-equipped kitchenette with all the basics to get you started, including an induction hob, microwave, kettle, toaster, fridge and a beautiful Belfast sink. You’ll find a huge king-size bed, fitted with a mattress from the local Yorkshire Mattress Company and with Egyptian cotton bedding. There’s also a Smart TV and a Bluetooth speaker so you can put your feet up in front of a good movie or listen to some of your favourite tunes as you get breakfast ready in the mornings. The shepherd’s huts also enjoy exclusive access to the small private fishing lake. If you can drag yourself away from this peaceful haven, there’s plenty to do in the local area. Hop on the bus at the stop just outside the property and you can be in the historic city of York in just 15 minutes. In the other direction, the Howardian Hills are calling, with the impressive Castle Howard and the picturesque market town of Malton to explore. If you fancy a change of scene, how about a trip to the seaside? The beautiful Robin Hood’s Bay, Scarborough and Whitby are all less than an hour’s drive away and you can reach the latter two by bus.

With a private fishing lake, separate games room, hot tub and an immaculate interior which seamlessly mixes modern with traditional, this charming stone farmhouse has something to please everyone. Situated within the pretty Yorkshire countryside, and built from local stone, guests will be enchanted by this lovely house from the moment they rest eyes on it. The heart of any home is the kitchen and Harelands Farm is no exception. It has a splendid kitchen/dining area which makes cooking and socialising an absolute joy. The farmhouse style kitchen is full of all the equipment and gadgets to keep cooks happy while a large kitchen island becomes the social hub as groups gather to chat, pour drinks or even help out the cook. Mealtimes will be cherished when enjoyed at the beautiful wooden table in the dining area of the space. Oak beams run across the pitched roof and large windows offer lovely views to all, as they dine. Pile dishes high, fill glasses to the brim and settle in for memorable feasts with loved ones. After dinner, head to the games room for table football and darts, or escape to the one of two reception rooms, sink into the cosy sofas and listen to the crackle of the fire. Harelands Farm is a home to enjoy all year round and in summer months guests can throw open patio doors and let the fresh Yorkshire air flow through the house. Head on to the paved patio and grill meat and veggies on the gas BBQ, soak in the luxurious hot tub or head to the fishing lake for a spot of angling. When bedtime beckons, there are four superb bedrooms to chose from. The exquisite master has a private balcony where guests can enjoy a quiet morning coffee while enjoying the views over the fishing lake. It also boasts a fabulous ensuite with an indulgent roll top bath, double walk-in shower and his and hers sinks. Pour a drink, sink into the bubbles and simply relax. There is plenty at the house to keep everyone entertained for the length of the stay but the handy location makes day trips irresistible. The famous Yorkshire Dales and coastline are a short drive away, as is Richmond, a beautiful and historic market town perfect for stocking up on goodies, browsing the shops or stopping for lunch. Maybe take a tour of Richmond Castle before heading to The King's Head Hotel for some fine ale and good pub food.
