WHY WE LOVE THIS
📍The North Wessex Downs is a walker’s paradise. Covering 668 square miles, the North Wessex Downs straddles three counties. There is plenty of ground to cover, so whether you’re a regular hiker or prefer flatter terrain, you can find the perfect patch to enjoy this Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty
📍Witness a vision-in-blue and journey to see the carpet of enchanting bluebells at West Woods during springtime. Take a gentle stroll along the accessible woodland trails of West Woods, on the eastern edge of the Pewsey Downs with ample parking and a picnic area (27.2 miles from the hotel)
📍Newbury and its surrounding areas have a rich history that dates back to the Norman conquest of 1066. Just south of the market town, you will find the UK’s most famous hillfort, Beacon Hill, which was an integral part of the early defence and communication network in Britain. Discover the remains of Donnington Castle, a 14th century twin-towered gatehouse where both Henry VIII and Elizabeth I are thought to have stayed
📍Walk just over an hour east of Beacon Hill to Watership Down. Explore the chalk downs that inspired Richard Adams’ classic novel and the 1978 animated film. See how many rabbits you can spot bounding across the rolling hills
